Vatican Museum Goes On-line.  The Vatican Museums are one of the most famous and renowned cultural institutions of the Holy See. They are known everywhere because of the masterpieces which the Roman Pontiffs have commissioned, collected and preserved during the ages. Together with the immense heritage of movable works of art, sculptures and paintings, which are displayed in the galleries, the itineraries of the Vatican Museums include the most important and artistically significant rooms of the Vatican Apostolic Palace, such as the “Cappella Niccolina” with paintings by Beato Angelico, the “Appartamento Borgia” with decorations by Pinturicchio, the “Stanze” painted by Raphael and, of course, the Sistine Chapel with frescoes by Michelangelo as well as the most important 15th century masters from Umbria and Tuscany.

Spiritual Magic.  Fr. Daniel Rolland, OP is takes his magic on the road.  He says, "My magic shows used to be about all the great things I could do. Now they're about all the great things God does through us....Too often magic just ends in a puzzle when its supposed to end in mystery. The magic I perform reflects some of the greater mysteries of our lives: purpose, destiny, love, reconciliation, death."  Fr. Daniel trusts his audiences' intelligence to know the feats he performs is not accomplished by magical power. Still, he would let everyone know that they have great power within themselves to change the world and to be instruments of God. That is what he would call "real magic."

Who's Keeping Their Eye on the Ball?
Two news networks are stoking the debate on separation of religion and state.   Plug into the articles and get informed and keep your eye on the ball.

(CNN, June 27, 2002) -- A federal appeals court panel in San Francisco declared Wednesday that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional and unfit for the classroom. The justices say the phrase "one nation under God" amounts to a government establishment of religion, which is expressly forbidden by the First Amendment.

Speaking at the G-8 summit in Canada, President Bush said that the ruling was "out of step with the history and traditions of America," and said it highlighted the need for "common-sense judges that understand that our rights are derived from God."  Continue Full CNN Article >>>
