Postulation of a Prior Provincial
(LCO 508, II)
Since the office of prior provincial of our Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus is
vacant after the completion of the three-and-a-half-year term of Brother Daniel Syverstad,
O.P., we have been anxious to elect a new prior provincial. Therefore, on the day
assigned in the Statute of the Province (Act, 64), we conducted this election according to
the norm of number 452 of the Book of Constitutions and Ordinations.
Since we were given twenty vocals, namely:

...Consequently, the requisite majority for election having been obtained in this first
scrutiny, I, Brother Paul Scanlon, O.P., chairman (praeses) of the chapter have declared
Brother Roberto Corral, O.P. to have been elected Prior Provincial of the Province of the
Most Holy Name of Jesus.
Therefore, since our election was completed properly, and since it concerns a person
suited for the office, we ask Your Paternity that you deign to approve the election and
confirm the brother elected as our prior provincial.
Given at Oakland, in our Convent of St. Albert the Great, under the seal of the
Province, on the tenth day of the month of January in the year of our Lord two-thousand
and three.
