7:00 AM
The Chapter members gathered for Office of Readings, followed by the opening Mass of the
Holy Spirit combined with Morning Prayer. Petitions for the success of the Chapter
and for our deceased brothers were offered. Fr. Paul Scanlon presided and preached.
10:30 AM
The Chapter members enjoyed the second talk by Fr. Edward Ruane, Prior Provincial of the
Central Province. A recap of the first talk was briefly introduced: excitement
realized and the Chapter as an ecclesial event lived-out. The second talk was built
upon the man born blind (Jn 9). What are the layered visions of Jesus? How do
we sometimes block our vision of Christ? Topics of anxiety, sinfulness, forgiveness,
blindness, narcissism, fear, pride, and humility were discussed.
4:00 PM
Third Talk by Fr. Edward Ruane, OP
What does it mean to be a disciple? How do we ponder Scripture? The Chapter
took a closer look at second chapter of Philippians. How are we to be united in
convictions and love? How are we to have a common mind without competition, free
from conceit and always ready to consider the other persons interests before our
own? We must shape our hearts in this unity and love. We must be congruent in
act and word. The Apostles argued over whom was the greatest, but Jesus made it
clear, the one who is the least, the one who serves the others is the greatest. When
can God be most God for us? God is most God for the anawim: children, poor, and
sinners. For the weak, and needy. We must humbly approach God in our
neediness. |
