Each Chapter Commission met and elected a chair and secretary. Many of the Commissions set
appointments to begin their commission work on Saturday morning.
A recess was taken for lunch.
2:00 PM
The Chapter entered into a caucus to discern the elected position of Prior Provincial.
This position represents the highest ranking Dominican in the Western United
States. The new Provincial is elected from within the community of brethren, and not
assigned. We choose who we would like to lead us, and it is this person. This
will be the first major election of the Chapter.
In preparation for this election, the Chapter
members not only have the discussion of the caucus, but they have elected the following:
5:00 PM
Vespers for the Chapter members in a private chapel of the house. They will be using
the former Novitiate chapel of the cloistered third floor. "Seek Ye First the
Kingdom of God" was the opening hymn and most appropriate.
7:30 PM
Celebration of a penance service followed with adoration before the Blessed Sacrament in
the main chapel with the entire community and laity. Fr. Mark Padrez presided. |
