In a very general
way, here is an account of the day's significant events.
9:00 AM
Diffinitorium Meeting
Late last night, the first working draft of the Acta was printed, duplicated, and
distributed to the Capitulars. The Acta is shaping-up nicely, and is around
144 pages, which is roughly the same size as the previous published version. The secretaries (Brs. James Thompson, Dismas Sayre, and John
Evans) often work until 11 PM or 12 AM, and last night was no different. The
goal of the secretaries is to provide the necessary support to keep the Diffinitorium
moving full speed. While the Diffinitorium is meeting, the secretaries are working
on other projects, getting materials prepared, faxing, mailing, updating the web site, and
other clerical duties.
Announcement of appointments are expected sometime
today, if all goes as planned. It is always a tricky business to gain the necessary
confirmations and pull all the pieces together. For the uninitiated, this means that
many friars' lives will be affected by the elections and appointments. Forty-five to
fifty positions of election and appointment flow directly from this Provincial Chapter,
and then pastors will be appointed for our churches. The anticipation for the
remaining appointments is still building, get ready because here they come.
