The Acta is now published and distributed.
The final document is distributed to every member of the Province to aid them in living
the common life, a life chosen freely and governed from within the membership. This
legislation is approved by the General Curia of the Order in Rome, the Diffinitorium of
this Chapter, and promulgated by the Prior Provincial of the Western Province. The
membership of the Province has chosen its leaders and set its policy. This Acta is
in force until the next Chapter to be held in January 2007. This is a guideline and
aid, but it is important to note that it is a living body of work. The Acta is not
a reinvention to living the Dominican life, rather it is an adjustment to the contemporary
needs of the Church, Province, and brethren. The next chapter will take-up this work
and continue to discern, re-evaluate, and adjust the legislation to meet the contemporary
needs. Each chapter begins with the invocation of the Holy Spirit, let us all pray
for the Spirit to continue filling the lives of the brethren as they strive for holiness,
the witness of Christ, and a life of living poverty, chastity, and obedience to the glory
of God.
