Ordination Rite

Calling and Presentation of the Candidates Fr. Roberto Corral
After the candidates present themselves, a representative of all those concerned with the candidates’ formation testifies to their readiness for ordination.

Election and Consent
After receiving the representative’s testimony, Bishop Vigneron elects the candidates for ordination to the presbyterate.

Bishop We rely on the help of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, and we choose these men, our brothers, for priesthood in the presbyteral order.

All Thanks be to God.

Homily: Bishop Allen Vigneron

Examination of the Candidate
The bishop questions the candidates about their willingness to accept the responsibilities of the office of the presbyterate.

Promise of Obedience
Kneeling before the bishop, the candidates promise respect and obedience to their local ordinary.

Invitation to Prayer (please stand)
The bishop invites all to pray for the gifts of heaven on these servants.

Litany of the Saints TM 715
Acknowledging their dependence upon God, the candidates lay prostrate as an expression of their surrender to the will of God.

Laying on of Hands and Prayer of Consecration (please be seated)
Together the imposition of hands and the prayer of consecration are the heart of the Ordination Rite. The bishop asks the Lord to send forth the Holy Spirit upon the candidates.

Appreciation

We sincerely thank all those who have supported us and who pray for the friars. We especially thank our families, the friars, and our friends for their love, support, and share in our vocations. We thank the laity for their prayers and integral part in forming us through our ministerial experiences within the life of the Church. We thank the Knights of Columbus and our many benefactors for helping to support our vocations, and making possible a Dominican presence in the Western United States. Most importantly we thank almighty God for the opportunity to serve Him and the People of God, for the blessings received, and for His divine assistance in our pursuit of holiness.
