FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Fellow Missionaries:

This month we hear from Bro. Raymond Bertheaux, O.P., in Guatemala City.

In  the midst of the city's misery, Bro. Raymond and our Dominican team of friars, sisters, and laity, work with the people, especially the children of the poorest barrios.  The intensity of Holy Week celebrations breaks through the bleakness of daily life.  The people share the Way of the Cross with Christ, even as they will surely be first in line to meet the Resurrected Lord!  Those who are last will be first, according to Christ.  You help the last and least with your dedication to our missionaries.

May the life of Easter and Pentecost fill you with the Joy and Faith of Christ!

Alleluia!

Fr. Donald, O.P.

THE LIVING CHURCH

By Bro. Raymond Bertheaux O.P.
Guatemala City, Guatemala

Dear Friends:

At this writing (8 p.m., March 30), I am in the archives, way up in our
choir loft at Santo Domingo del Rosario Basilica, Guatemala City.  There is a
performance of funeral marches for the coming Holy Week processions.  It is standing room only.  Even though this is earthquake country, no one is afraid of being inside this antique and grandiose church.  They say: “We are at the disposition of Our Lord.”
