Fr.
David Thomas Orique, O.P.
Fr. David Orique is from Kingsburg, California. He graduated from California State University of
Fresno with a B.S. in Business and a minor in Spanish. After working 12 years in business
he entered the Order of Friars Preachers in 1992 from the Dominican parish in San
Francisco. He completed a M.Div/ M.A. in theology with a special emphasis in Luso-Hispanic
historical and economic studies and was ordained to the priesthood June 2000.
Since
his ordination, he has served at St. Thomas More Newman Center at the University of Oregon.
In 2007 he completed a M.A. Latin American
History at the University of Oregon, and has begin a PhD in Latin American
History. He dreams of serving the growing Spanish and Portuguese speaking
communities of the Catholic Church in Latin America and the United States.
