Br. Francis Joseph Walsh, OP
Joseph Walsh was born on May 10, 1884. He entered the Order in 1919 and was sent to
Washington, D.C. to study. He was solemnly professed on January 22, 1922 at St.
Dominics in San Francisco. After profession, he moved to Ross. In 1927 he moved to Benicia and went by the name
Francis. In 1931 he moved to St. Dominics in San Francisco and the next year
moved to St. Alberts in Oakland. In 1938
he moved to St. Vincent Ferrer in Vallejo. In 1942 he returned to San
Francisco. During this time he was the personal brother to Fr. Benedict Blank, OP
who was Provincial at the time. In 1951 he was assigned to Oakland once again and
two years later moved to Ross. While at Ross, he was a nurse to Fr. Stanislaus
Olsen, who had lost his legs to diabetes. He died on the way to the Hospital on July
19, 1961. He is remembered as being a great brother to all. May God give him
eternal rest.
