Dominicans Appoint New Director of Vocations

Fr. John Marie Bingham, O.P. grew up as the son of an Episcopal priest in Augusta, GA. After his family’s conversion to the Catholic Church in 1993, he attended Thomas Aquinas College (TAC) for his undergraduate studies. In fact, it was at TAC that Fr. John Marie met his first Dominican: Fr. Bart de la Torre, O.P.

Fr. Bart provided a living example of Thomistic wisdom and zeal for the salvation of souls that inspired Fr. John Marie and planted in him the seed for his own vocation to the Order of Preachers.

In 2002, Fr. John Marie joined the Western Dominican Province and was ordained to the priesthood in 2010, alongside his brothers Frs. Christopher Fadok, O.P., Isaiah Mary Molano, O.P., Stephen Maria Lopez, O.P. and Michael Augustine Amabisco, O.P.

Fr. John Marie has served the Dominican parishes of St. Dominic’s Church in Benicia, California and Blessed Sacrament Church in Seattle, Washington where he has been able to share his love of the Truth and a zeal for souls.

As Fr. John Marie assumes the role of Director of Vocations, he looks forward to welcoming heroic young men who are moved by the example of St. Dominic – men who desire to live and preach in the noble and gracious spirit that has characterized the Order of Preachers from its medieval beginnings.

May the Lord draw many to serve as preachers of the Gospel and "champions of the faith"!
