Our Founder

Saint Dominic de Guzman, a famously joyful friar and preacher, founded what was to become a ground-breaking religious order on a global scale.

The Dominicans are professed religious men and women who are dedicated to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

From the very beginning, the territory of the Western Dominican Province has been a place in great need of evangelization and missionary activity.

Stephen of Salanhac, O.P., described the Dominican friar as “a canon by profession, a monk in austerity of his life, and an apostle by his office.”
