We are excited to announce The Dominican Black & White—a festive evening of dinner and dancing benefiting the Western Dominican Province. Come honor our 175-year history, and celebrate the future of the Dominicans in the West!
One of the highlights of the evening includes the presentation of the Alemany Award—named after one of our founders—to Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, as well as Bishop Michael C. Barber, S.J., both close friends of the Dominicans.
In 1850, Pope Pius IX sent the Dominicans to California at the height of the Gold Rush with a clear mission: “Where others are drawn by gold, you must carry the cross.” From the Gold Rush to the Tech Boom, the Western Dominican Friars have continued to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that seeks after riches but has become spiritually poor. This work is no less vital than it was 175 years ago.
We hope you'll join us in celebrating this special occasion. Check back soon for more details and to purchase tickets.
