We are excited to announce the Dominican Black and White, a festive evening of dinner and dancing scheduled for December 6, 2025 in San Francisco. This year’s event celebrates the arrival of the Order of Preachers in the Western United States exactly 175 years ago to the day.

One of the highlights of the evening includes the presentation of the Alemany Award—named after one of our founders—to Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, as well as Bishop Michael C. Barber, S.J., both close friends of the Dominicans.

Pope Pius IX sent the Dominicans to California at the height of the Gold Rush with a clear mission: “Where others are drawn by gold, you must carry the cross.” Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that seeks after riches but has become spiritually poor—this work is no less vital than it was 175 years ago.

We hope you'll join us in celebrating this special occasion. Check back for more details, updates and registration information.
