DSPT Feasibility Survey
We are happy to present our comprehensive feasibility study aimed at evaluating the future of the DSPT campus location. This study is a crucial step in determining the success and potential of our school, and we invite you to participate in this study with us.
Our report provides an analysis of three different scenarios:
- Base Case (Status Quo) – Maintain DSPT operations at the current physical campus (2301 Vine Street, Berkeley, CA)
- Consolidate DSPT Operations onto the PSAG Site - move all of DSPT operations back to its original location on the PSAG site (5890 Birch Ct., Oakland, CA)
- Relocate all or most of DSPT’s administration and operations to a site at or near the PSAG campus, while also potentially opening a new location near UC Berkeley’s main campus out of which DSPT will offer some events or services which directly benefit our collaborators in that area.
After reading the report, we would value your input and insights. Please take a few minutes to complete our survey at the bottom of the page, which will help us better understand your needs and expectations regarding the different scenarios. Please submit your feedback by May 31, 2024.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the committee. Thank you for your time and assistance.
God bless,
DSPT Feasibility Committee
Frequently Asked Questions
This feasibility study was commissioned by the Twenty-Seventh Provincial Chapter of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in 2023. Specifically:
We commission the prior provincial, the President of the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology, the prior of the Priory of St. Albert the Great, and whomever else the prior provincial sees fit, to conduct a study of the feasibility of relocating the School to the grounds of the Priory of St. Albert the Great, while maintaining the viability of current offerings at DSPT and looking for opportunities to expand enrollment and collaboration with other academic insitutes. They shall present a progress report to each quarterly provincial council meeting. (a75)
The authorization for this study is a direct outcome of a limited-scope organizational assessment of DSPT by VeraCruz Advisory, LCC, who was contracted by the prior provincial, who is also the chancellor. VeraCruz recommended in their final report four possible scenarios to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs of operation – one option being the relocation of the DSPT campus to PSAG. After consultation with the Faculty, the DSPT President submitted a report to the 2023 Provincial Chapter recommending a more detailed exploration of this idea.
By sharing this report with stakeholders and requesting feedback, we are entering the final phase of our study. All survey data and feedback from stakeholders must be returned to the committee by June 1, 2024. This data will be compiled and synthesized into a final Feasibility Committee Report which will be given to the Provincial Council later in June, 2024.
